The origins of the Order of the Eastern Star dates back to the mid-19th century. Dr. Rob Morris was a Freemason, Master Mason and Poet Laureate of Masonry, who made it is his mission to share the principles of Masonry with women. He and his wife, Charlotte Mendenhall Morris, developed the concepts and beliefs that formed the foundation for the Order of the Eastern Star.

The foundation of the Order utilizes the beautiful and inspiring Biblical examples of heroic conduct and moral values. These portray the noble principles which should adorn the personal lives of Eastern Star members. Eastern Star strives to build an environment for our members and our Order which is truly dedicated to Charity, Truth and Loving Kindness by uplifting each other and through service in our communities.

Job's Daughters is a youth group founded in 1920 for young women between the ages of 10 and 20 who are sponsored by a Master Mason (a member of a men’s fraternal group called Freemasonry). Members of Job’s Daughters, also called "Jobies", get to participate in lots of fun projects and activities planned by the members. Our group takes its name from the Book of Job, in the Bible, with particular reference to the 42nd chapter 15th verse: "And in all the land were no women found so fair as the Daughters of Job; and their Father gave them inheritance among their brethren."

The uniforms worn by the officers of a Bethel during meetings are of the Grecian type worn by women during the time of Job. Everyone wearing the white Grecian dress stresses equality, symbolic of the important belief that we are all of equal importance in life. All girls, regardless of their family backgrounds, are equal when all wearing them
